Sep 06, 2009 tomtom one chinese voice missing. Discussion in 'General TomTom Discussion' started by waylandchin, Dec 22, 2007. Chinese language available on setup but gone. Do you mean a Chinese instruction voice or menu. Chinese display language was available on my first tomtom. I bought a XXL 540 TM and cannot find chinese language option in language setup. Does 540TM support chinese language? If so what do I get chinese. Voice via HOME. Hi Glad to see the reply. Actually it is the latter case. Chinese display language was available on my first tomtom(Go 2435) from 5 years ago which just broke recently, and was available when I first bought my GO 60s 2 weeks ago (Both bought in North America). On the GO 60s, I was able to choose Chinese as my display language as well as my keyboard when I first bought it, but the options were gone after I updated my device. Too bad I can't roll back the device to show a screenshot. I did, however, save a location in My Places with Chinese keyboard, which still shows fine now. So the system does still support Chinese, it's just that the keyboard & display options are gone. To be honest, this is not too much a concern for me. The only thing I would miss is the ability to save Chinese restaurants&shops in Chinese and etc. Possessive pronouns game. It just feels very strange that a fully functional feature would be removed from the device. Hi, thanks for your replies, yes I too had the option that Ying had. The option of a full Chinese device was there, when the device is first used. Upon the first update this is gone and reverts tot he region you purchased the device from. In my case a European version. I'm guessing the devices before updates and brand new from the factory are setup to work with any language but get locked to the region as soon as you update a map. So if you are in Europe you never have the need for Chinese fonts. Shame really as my Dad really liked a Chinese fonts, voice tomtom that worked in the UK.
